A spare tyre
You never know when you may get a flat tyre so it’s always a good idea to keep a spare tyre in your car just in case.
A dead battery can occur at any time so it’s always good to be prepared. In the event that your car battery does fail it’s a good idea to have some jump leads with you, just in case a nearby car doesn’t have any and then you may well just be stranded.
It’s a good idea to keep your owner’s manual in your car at all times, just in case you ever need to refer back to it. If you have misplaced yours then there are lots of places on the internet where you should be able to download a copy.
A first aid kit
This could come in very handy in the event of an emergency, whether you are involved in an accident or you just happen to see someone who needs assistance, it’s always ideal to have one in your car just to be safe. It should include all the basic items found in a first aid kit so that you can be prepared.
Whether your car break down in the middle of the night or you’ve simply lost something in your car, it’s always useful to have a torch in your car as you never know when you may need one.
This one obviously only really applies to the colder months but you should consider keeping antifreeze in your car at all times just in case. The icy weather could prove to be dangerous and if you are unable to see out of your windscreen then you’ll be putting yourself and others at risk.
A car-adapted phone charger
In today’s society it almost seems unimaginable that we’d ever let our phones run out of battery, but it can happen occasionally, especially when you are embarking on a long journey. Keeping a phone charger in your car is always handy just in case you ever need to call someone (once you’ve pulled over to a safe stopping point, of course).
You never know when you may stumble across an unexpected toll or when you’ll need some change for a car park so keeping some loose change in your car means that you are always prepared.
Food and water
Naturally, it’s not feasible to keep a full Sunday dinner in your car, but keeping a couple of non-perishable items just in case you ever find yourself stranded can be incredibly useful. Keeping a couple of bottles of water in your car could also prove to be useful as well.
