Coffee powered Bean Machine enters the Guinness World Record

Coffee powered Bean Machine

Taking the concept of caffeine-based energy to next level, UK engineer, Martin Bacon, 42, got his Ford P100 pick-up truck specially modified to run on coffee chaff pellets, the byproduct of coffee production. Martin clocked a top speed of 65mph at Woodford Airfield in Stockport, Greater Manchester with his modified truck to enter the Guinness World Record.

The modified truck which is now christened as Bean Machine uses nothing coffee chaff pellets that are heated in a charcoal fire to break them into carbon monoxide and hydrogen which is cooed and filtered before being burnt to propel the vehicle. The vehicle was commissioned by The Co-operative Food to celebrate the 10th anniversary of it converting all its coffee to Fair trade, the conversion of Ford pick-up truck into caffeinated car took years before being crowned the fastest of its kind.
