In order to claim the bigger market pie in the People’s Republic of China, Audi has announced a special edition R8 for the south Asian country. Audi R8 China exclusive edition is a limited run of 80 units and will be made available in either Malibu Blue or Suzuka Grey colors. There will be only cosmetic changes and some upgrades inside without any changes under the hood whatsoever.
Under the hood will be the same 5.2 liter V10 engine that outputs 525hp and 530 Nm of peak torque. Transferring power to wheels is an R tronic transmission and a quattro all-wheel drive system which enables the Audi R8 to jump from 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds. The China special edition of Audi R8 flaunts contrasting side blades, carbon fiber made rear wing and runs on 19” gloss black alloy wheels. The peculiar features inside includes sports seats and steering wheel draped in Alcantara leather and body color accents.
Additionally, the R8 for Chinese market will have individually serial numbered aluminum gear knob skipping all numbers with number four to keep up to the cultural habit of Chinese folks. The entire cost of the Audi R8 China Edition is at 2,628,000 yuan is equals to 420,000 USD at the current exchange rate.
