It was a decade ago Jeep debuted the hardcore and extreme variant of Wrangler in Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. In order to pay tribute to original Wrangler Rubicon that made its way into the market in 2003, Jeep today unveiled the Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition which will be available as a two-door Wrangler or four-door Wrangler Unlimited.
Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition is the most capable Wrangler ever produced and comes equipped with 3.6-liter V-6 powerhouse that develops 285hp and 260 pound-feet of torque. Engine is either mated to a six speed manual or five speed automatic gearbox that sends power to all the wheels. The four wheel drive system has electronic-locking front and rear Dana 44 axles that get power from Rock-trac transfer case with “4-Low” ratio of 4-to-1. A 4.10-to-1 axle ratio and Tru-Lok locking differentials come as standard in the 10th anniversary edition.
Some of the other prominent features of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition include a bump of one and half inch in its ride height, courtesy to satin black 17” inch Rubicon style aluminum wheels draped in BF Goodrich KM2 265/70R17 tires. Adding more to the killer looks of the new Rubicon are new winch-capable off-road black steel bumpers at both ends with removable end caps and a duel intake power dome that helps keep engine cool.
Inside the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition one can find red leather seats having Rubicon 10th Anniversary” embroidered on the headrests, electronic module that provides information about oil pressure, oil temperature and tire pressures, factory Mopar floor mats, axle locker and sway bar disconnect switches.
Like other Rubicons, 10th Anniversary Jeep Wrangler Rubicon edition will be produced in limited numbers, with its sales starting in the spring of 2013. No pricing details are made available by Chrysler so far. However, as Rubicon costs a cool $30,000, one can expect the latest edition to at least start from this price tag.
