BMW i3 and i8 are massively covered and liked by auto enthusiasts across the world. The vehicles are approaching the end phase of their development and are expected to hit the showrooms in 2013 -14 respectively. But that surely doesn’t mean BMW’s i division for sustainability and future mobility will stop entertaining us in future. Yes, BMW will continue with its i lineup and is coming to the 2012 LA Auto Show with a new i vehicle, i4.
No details of the new car have been revealed by BMW as of now and all we know is it will be based on BMW i3. The new vehicle is named as i4 and it will be sportier but coupe version of i3. The i4 is also expected to feature the i3 drivetrain i.e. an electric motor with a 170 hp and a peak torque of 170 lb-ft. The latest possible entrant of BMW’s ‘i’ lineup will be developed as a pure electric or an extended-range electric car.
The vehicle is to be constructed primarily from lightweight carbon fiber to reduce weight and is to feature a modified wider track and sportier suspension for improved performance. Apart from the i4 concept, BMW’s booth at 2012 LA Auto Show will also feature its previous i8 Spyder concept, 2013 7-Series and X1-based K2 Powder Ride ski concept. Note: BMW i3 and i8 pictured
