Hot rods are made hot; they woo auto enthusiasts with their immaculate power, distinct looks and that lot of rubber burning on the road. However, the one we are to discuss in the coming lines isn’t a roaring beast, but in concept form. Christened as GMC Hotrod concept, the amazing looking hotrod is the imagination of Italian designer, Aldo Schurmann – a transport design student at IAAD (Istituto d’Arte Applicata e Design).
With the target to design a different concept car for American manufacturer, Aldo blends Caterham 7, Camaro and a Dune Buggy to give form to GMC Hotrod concept. In order to propel this ominous beast on the road, Aldo proposes front mounted V8 engine, which can be seen through a transparent panel in the hood. Engine is proposed to be aligned with six-speed manual transmission that will, hopefully, send power to the rear wheels.
Design wise, GMC Hotrod concept features expansive glass canopy that starts as a windscreen, also serves as a roof and ends up as the rear window to protect the occupants from external elements. The elegant beast that also provides a great deal of customization options with the use of fast-change body panels which make it look different for different tracks you drive it on.
