Sculpture created using scrap auto parts isn’t something new. The imagination of the artists, however, is. They successfully create new sculptures every time to mesmerize us. This time the collection of amazing sculptures come from the Israel based artist Nirit Levav who has found a novel way to create beautiful art by upcycling the scrap metal.

Nirit Levav, a fashion design graduate from the Parsons School of Design in NY City, uses discarded bicycle chains for the purpose and created mind blowing sculptures of man’s best friend, dogs. The artist upcycles rusty bicycle chains to create life sized dogs of almost every variety.

Nirit Levav, apart from a fashion designer, is also an avid junk collector and frequently visits the bike shops and garages to find out the beauty of the rusted and discarded metal components that such shops usually throw away to rot. The inspiration for creating full size dog sculptures from disused bike chains come from the discarded material itself.

The first sculpture of the dog she created was Rotweiler and no stopping thereafter as one sculpture inspired the other and she came out carving the dogs of almost every variety from junk metal. Now her collection of life-size bike chain dog sculptures includes Greyhounds, a Bijan Frise, a Cocker Spaniel, Poodles and other mutts. Other than the bike chains, Nirit also used gears, pedals and bike seats to give form to amazing sculpture.
