Jeep reveals 2014 Cherokee; Liberty successor is coming to NY Auto Show

After some photos leaked on Jalopnik, Jeep finally comes up with official images of its 2014 Cherokee well ahead of its debut at New York Auto Show in March. The replacement of Jeep Liberty, the fresh pictures of new mid-size SUV show it in best light possible.

What images of the crossover shows to us is prominent curved grille, slender headlights and a uniquely designed hood together with plastic body cladding, some chrome trim and swoopy shoulder line. While rumors have it that 2014 Jeep Cherokee is to be built on the same CUSW platform as the Dodge Dart, the Jeep assures its possible buyers with better capability, on-road dynamics and a 45% increase in the fuel economy than the outgoing Liberty model.

Jeep didn’t reveal the details of the 2014 Cherokee, but expect it to come equipped with 3.2-liter V6 engine based on Chrysler’s 3.6-liter Pentastar engine, with the possibility of 2.0- and 3.0-liter diesel engine variants for Europe. The Jeep Liberty successor might also come aligned with an all-new 9-speed automatic transmission from ZF Friedrichshafen.

2014 Jeep Cherokee is scheduled to go into production in May this year at company’s plant in Toledo, Ohio with its sale expected to commence in the third quarter of 2013. No price details are available as of now.
