The new Dacia Sandero that was revealed at the 2012 Paris Motor Show is to be Britain’s cheapest car when it will hit the dealerships in January next year. The customer deliveries are expected to start later in the same month. The Dacia Sandero will cost just £5,995 – a meager sum that one needs to buy the racing strips of Ferrari 599, to paint Maserati Quattroporte in pearlescent white color or to get the carbon-ceramic brakes on a Porsche 911.
Dacia Sandero to come with three engine options to choose from: a 1.2-liter 16V 75 petrol, 0.9-liter three-cylinder TCe 90 and a new 1.5-liter diesel dCi 90. The four-cylinder, 1.2-liter 16V 75 petrol engine will be offered in entry level variant. Engine will be mated to five speed manual gearbox and will enable the car to get from a standstill to 62 mph in 13.5 seconds, with its top speed at 98 mph. The car offers a fuel economy of 47.9 mpg on the combined cycle and its CO2 emission remains at 137 g/km.
The second petrol engine is more frugal, yet powerful. It enables the car to get from 0-60 mph in 12 seconds and reaches the top speed of 109 mph. The combined fuel economy (for city and highway driving) will be at 54.3 mpg and it will emit 120 gram of CO2 per kilometer. The third engine option is a 1.5-liter diesel dCi 90 that makes the hot hatch reach from a naught to 62 mph in 12.5 seconds, with its top speed at 106 mph. It offers a combined fuel economy of 74.3 mpg and emits 100 grams of CO2 per kilometer.

The five-door, five-seater hatch will run on 15 inch steel wheels and will also feature power steering, day time running lights, 60/40 split folding rear seat, ABS brakes with emergency brake assist, traction control, front airbags and a luggage space of 320 liters or 1200 liters with rear seats down.
The mid level Ambiance version, however, will add another £600 to offer Radio CD player with finger tip remote control, remote central locking, electric assisted front windows and body colored bumpers. The top version will start from £7,995 and will be offered with hoards of features that include air conditioning, cruise control, electric powered rear windows as standard as well as heated and electrically adjustable door mirrors, while a fully integrated 7” touch screen Navi and multimedia system remains optional but costs £250 extra.
Apart from this, the Dacia Sandero, a subsidiary of Renault, will come with three years or 60,000 miles warranty and free road side assistance which can be upgraded for five years/60,000 miles or seven years/100,000 miles for a meager amount of £395 and £850 respectively.
