With the advent of electric cars in the last decade of 19th century, the availability of zero emission cars was possible just a few years ago. However, the journey is marked with the development of more efficient and reliable batteries that are lightweight and last longer to range extender EVs like Chevy volt and Cadillac ELR Coupe. With the rising environment concerns and fast drying sources of fossil fuels, the need for EVs is gaining ground with each passing day, forcing automakers to come up with the alternatives to gas guzzling cars that are also light on environment .
Not only the automakers but designers ย are alsoย trying their level best to propose the concepts with possibility to enter the production. One such industrial designย studentย is from Norway, Erik Sรฆtre, who developed a design study of an all electric Volkswagen four door coupe, dubbed as Ayoreo. The all electric Volkswagen Ayoreo concept is imagined to enter the EV market in 2013 with the goal to achieve a simple design language while incorporating all the necessary industrial elements.
Additionally, Volkswagen Ayoreo is imagined as an affordable Tesla S rival with more aesthetic appeal than Nissan Leaf. The five-seater EV is proposed to get power from four in-wheel electric motors collectively producing a cool 240hp.
