Hypersonic X-51A WaveRider to revolutionize the air travel with Mach 6 speed

What seems to revolutionize the air travel in future, hypersonic X-51A WaveRider to travel at a whopping speed of Mach 6 to end the long arduous hauls in jets. Owned by US Military, the hypersonic X-51A WaveRider to get propulsion from ‘scramjet’ engine to get a speed five times the speed of sound and that will make it reach from New York to London in just one hour.

The X-51A WaveRider is to undergo a test today. The supersonic jet will be flown from Edwards Air Force Base in the Mojave Desert in California on the wings of B52 bomber and it will be dropped from almost 50,000ft over the Pacific Ocean. The WaveRider will fall like a bomb for a short period of about four seconds before its rocket booster ignites to push the aircraft for next 30 seconds to get Mach 4.5 speed. The aircraft engine will take over from here to push the speed up to Mach 6 and take the aircraft to 70,000ft height.

The test will last for five minutes, which is the longest duration the jet is tested so far. After the test, the plane will crash in the sea and won’t be recovered. If everything goes well and efforts to develop the hypersonic engines are fruitful, the jet is to get the velocity that traditional turbine powered jet engines can never offer. We hope the hypersonic X-51A WaveRider to commence a new paradigm in future air travel.
