Keep a close watch on any odd sounds that your car makes. A clicking sound could be because a nail that is caught in the tyres. Sounds like grinding, scraping when the brakes are applied can indicate that something is wrong with the brakes. Take the car to a mechanic whenever the car makes any odd noises.

  1. Checking and flushing of fluids

When the car engine is cool, with the help of the dipstick check the most important fluid of your car that is oil. You should also check the power steering fluid level, radiator overflow reservoir and brake cylinder reservoir. The transmission fluid level can be checked after starting the car. Also, check colour of certain fluids like the antifreeze fluid. These fluids also need to be changed every two years. You can refer to your user manual for the same.

The trace amounts of sediments in the gasoline settle down at the bottom of the tank. When you drive on an almost empty tank then the dirty gas also gets pulled and this can pass through the oil filter and damage the engine. Therefore, never drive on an empty tank.

Remember not to speed. This will result in wastage of gas and you might also lose control. Ideally, you should drive your car at around 50 to 55 miles per hour.

  1. Engine cleaning

This is as important as washing your car. The dirt and rust that accumulates in the engine will obviously affect the performance of the engine.

  1. Drive with lighter loads

Never overload your vehicles. Take into account the size of the vehicle and the engine before you stuff your car.
